National Malaria Strategic Plan (NMSP) of Niger: 2017 – 2021

This Plan Stratégique National de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PSNLP) 2017 – 2021 is part of the broader malaria control framework aimed at accelerating the large-scale implementation of effective interventions, with the ultimate goal of elimination by 2025.

Vision: Niger’s 2017–2021 strategic plan for malaria control is firmly focused on accelerating malaria control efforts to help achieve the vision of a “Malaria-free Niger.”

Mission: Through the 2017–2021 Strategic Plan, the National Malaria Control Programme (PNLP) will continue its efforts to ensure universal and equitable access to malaria control interventions for populations at risk, in accordance with the health sector policy and the 2017–2021 Health Development Plan (PDS), and within the framework of the WHO AFRO strategic approach for implementing the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Goal: To contribute to improving the population’s general health status by significantly reducing the burden of malaria by 2021.

Objectives:

• Reduce the malaria-related mortality rate by at least 40% compared to 2015
• Reduce the malaria incidence rate by at least 40% compared to 2015
