Use of mobile phone technology in detection of antimalarial treatment failure and febrile illnesses in areas of declining malaria transmission in Tanzania

Objectives

The objectives of this project are:

1. To develop and deploy a mobile phone system for active and passive detection of recurrent fever cases.
2. To determine the proportion of treatment failures identified by village health workers through a mobile phone communication system.
3. To determine the number of severe febrile episodes timely identified by the mobile phone communication system.
