National Malaria Strategic Plan (NMSP) of Djibouti: 2020 – 2024
Countries: Djibouti
Published: 03/02/2020
The goal of this Plan stratégique national de lutte contre le paludisme, 2020-2024 is to contribute to reducing malaria-related morbidity and mortality among the Djiboutian population, particularly within vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children under five, refugees, and migrants. This NMSP aligns with the government’s efforts to combat endemic diseases by prioritizing high-impact interventions (LLINs, IRS, ACTs).
Implementation of this national strategic plan reflects:
- the country’s commitment to the Alma-Ata Declaration (1978), which aims to develop primary health care and achieve health for all;
- the Global Technical Strategy for Malaria (GTS, 2015–2030), which provides countries and development partners with technical guidance to steer nations toward malaria elimination by 2030; and
- the African Malaria Strategy (AMS), which calls on countries to increase investment to eliminate malaria across the continent.
This NMSP also aims to fulfill the international commitments made by the country to eliminate malaria throughout the national territory by 2030.
