National Malaria Strategic Plan (NMSP) of Colombia: 2019 – 2022

The Plan Estratégico Nacional de Malaria 2019-2022 is the result of work carried out by the Multidisciplinary Functional Malaria Team. It operates within the legal framework of Resolution 1841 of 2013, issued by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection (MSPS), which adopted the Ten-Year Public Health Plan (PDSP) for 2012–2021. This policy framework aims to ensure health equity across the country in order to advance the effective enjoyment of the right to health, improve living conditions that influence health status and reduce the existing disease burden, and maintain a zero-tolerance policy regarding avoidable mortality, morbidity, and disability.

Objective: To define the strategic course of action for comprehensive care, health promotion, prevention, surveillance, control, and elimination of malaria in Colombia during the 2019–2022 period. This is to be done in alignment with the goals established in the 2012–2021 Ten-Year Public Health Plan, based on the components of the Integrated Management Strategy (EGI), and in accordance with the specific actions to be undertaken by territorial entities and various stakeholders within the General System of Social Security in Health (SGSSS) to ensure its implementation and monitoring.
