National Malaria Strategic Plan (NMSP) of Cabo Verde: 2020 – 2024

This Plan strategique national d’élimination du paludisme (PSNEP) 2020–2024, guided by the program’s vision of “a malaria-free Cabo Verde,” aims to strengthen the integrated management of elimination interventions within the framework of the National Health Development Plan 2017–2021. As a reference tool, this Plan will bolster advocacy among high-level national authorities and partners to mobilize adequate resources and will drive the implementation of effective, high-impact interventions to maintain Cabo Verde’s malaria-free status.

Vision: The program’s vision is firmly focused on achieving certification of malaria elimination by 2023.

Mission: The mission of the National Malaria Control Program is to ensure and maintain universal access for the population to prevention and case management services within the context of malaria elimination certification in Cabo Verde.

Goal: The goal of the PSNEP 2020-2024 is to maintain “zero indigenous malaria cases” status nationwide by implementing effective strategies to prevent the risk of malaria resurgence, with the aim of obtaining official WHO malaria-free status recognition (certification) in 2023.

Objectives:
– Maintain zero indigenous malaria case status nationwide;
– Prevent the reintroduction of malaria nationwide;
– Strengthen program leadership and management capacities at all levels.
