Rationale and Abstract

Pathogens such as heartworm and dengue virus are transmitted by insects such as mosquitoes. Therefore, in order to control these infectious diseases, it is most important to eliminate vector insects. For about 100 years, insecticides such as DDT and pyrethroids have been used to eradicate mosquitoes. However, hundreds of thousands of people still die each year from infectious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes. From the above, it is clear that a completely new vector control method that does not rely on existing insecticides is needed. The result of this study represents important knowledge that shows that the methodology developed in this study is useful as a completely new malaria vaccine, and is expected to contribute to the eradication of malaria in the future.
