Optimal community-delivered malaria elimination models for the Greater Mekong Sub-region
Objectives
To produce a community-delivered malaria elimination model that is acceptable, operational, pragmatic, effective and cost-effective across Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) countries.
The malaria landscape is changing in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and current community-delivered models, typically village health volunteers with basic training, which have worked well for malaria control may not work well for malaria elimination.
To date, there has been no nationwide or region wide research on community-delivered models to develop an optimal model and package of interventions for malaria elimination in Myanmar, Lao PDR or the GMS more broadly.
Findings from this project will advance implementation of malaria services in the community and elimination programs in GMS countries. The research will comprise of two stages: Stage 1 – Stakeholder consultation and model development, and Stage 2 – Evaluation of the community-delivered integrated malaria elimination model.
