Novel vaccine technology to translate knowledge of immuno-pathogenesis into vaccines and therapeutics
Objectives
This project plans to conduct early phase trials of vaccines for Malaria and Streptococcus and to further understand how the immune system can be trained to control them.
Malaria and streptococcal diseases are collectively responsible for the loss of over 1,000,000 lives each year. The immune responses to the organisms responsible for these diseases have been studied and have used novel technology to develop candidate vaccines which are showing great promise in both pre-clinical and pilot stage human trials.
