Global malaria diagnostic and artemisinin treatment commodities demand forecast, Phase II
Objectives
To help the market demand for malaria commodities including antimalarial medicines, malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), and the active pharmaceutical ingredient artemisinin.
UNITAID funds and coordinates quarterly demand forecasts for malaria-related products. These forecasts are overseen by a committee representing various organizations. Briefs are prepared to summarize the latest demand forecasts for antimalarial drugs, RDTs, and artemisinin for policymakers and stakeholders. Quarterly demand forecasts provide insights to policymakers and market participants, supporting a healthy malaria market. The project has transitioned to Phase 2, which includes forecasting for malaria RDTs and artemisinin monotherapies. UNITAID remains committed to maintaining a global forecasting service to ensure reliable and timely information is communicated to all supply chain actors.
