Evaluation of pirimiphos-methyl efficacy in experimental huts when sprayed on half the usual surface area against natural populations of Anopheles gambiae in Ghana

Objectives

This experimental hut study will compare partially sprayed surfaces with a positive control with walls fully sprayed by pirimiphos-methyl CS (Actellic 300CS®). The study will include the following specific objectives:

• Primary objective: Determination of the efficacy in terms of percent mortality for huts partially sprayed with IRS as compared to huts fully sprayed and not sprayed.
• Secondary objectives: Determination of blood-feeding inhibition and induced exiting; Chemical analysis of sprayed hut surfaces to determine that content of pirimiphos-methyl meets the target dosage range; Determine the airborne effect of pirimiphos-methyl.
