National Malaria Strategic Plan (NMSP) of Mali: 2007 – 2011

The Plan Stratégique National de Lutte contre le Paludisme (PSNLP) 2007–2011 represents a new opportunity to reaffirm the Government of Mali’s commitment to fighting malaria, particularly through the adoption of innovative strategies based on the introduction of ACTs and the promotion of malaria prevention among pregnant women and children under five.

Overall objective: By the end of 2011, contribute to reducing overall morbidity and mortality, particularly among children under five and pregnant women.

Specific objectives: By the end of 2011:

• Reduce malaria-related mortality by at least 50% compared to 2000 in areas targeted by malaria control interventions;
• Reduce the malaria case-fatality rate by at least 80% compared to 2005 in health facilities within areas targeted by malaria control interventions;
• Reduce malaria-related morbidity by at least 50% compared to 2000 in areas targeted by malaria control interventions.
