The Association for the Study of Medical Education Call for Application: ASME Small Grants 2026

The Association for the Study of Medical Education is calling for proposals for its Small Grants 2026.

The Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) has the mission of advancing scholarship in health professions education and invites Individual Members of ASME to apply for a small grant of up to £5,000 to support a research study in this field.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be Individual Members of ASME. ASME particularly welcomes submissions from new and established researchers, as well as applicants from diverse and under-represented backgrounds.

Award conditions:

  • Transcription costs cannot exceed £16 GBP per hour
  • Small Grant funding can be used to support conference attendance, although this must not be more than one fifth of the total amount of an application.
  • Small Grant funding can be used to engage a research assistant or student intern for a short period of time.
  • Funding is not intended to replace the inherent support that institutions should provide to individuals, and it therefore cannot be used for course fees, computing equipment, or overheads for a research assistant. FEC, HEI and NHS Indirect Costs will not be supported.
  • All recipients of the Small Grants award will be expected to produce an end-of-project report to the ASME Board and will be invited to provide a newsletter/blog item.
