TDR Call for Expressions of Interests: Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee 2025-2026 membership

TDR invites expressions of interest for membership in its Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (STAC). Several positions will become vacant in July 2025.

STAC provides independent external review and advice on the scope, strategic planning, and implementation of TDR’s scientific and technical activities, which are directed to ‘foster an effective global research effort on infectious diseases of poverty, in which disease endemic countries play a pivotal role’. STAC reports annually to TDR’s top governing body, the Joint Coordinating Board (JCB), including a detailed evaluation of the balance and quality of TDR’s portfolio of research, capacity building, and global engagement activities.

Areas of Expertise: 

The following areas of expertise are of particular interest to balance the STAC composition for 2025–2026 and beyond:

  • Implementation research and public health research for policy and health systems; 
  • Political science/economics;
  • Multisectoral research to address global health challenges, including the One Health approach and intersection of human and animal health and climate change/environment;
  • Research to support control and elimination of diseases of poverty;
  • Research on resistance to treatment and control agents;
  • Innovative research capacity building/strengthening and research ethics;
  • Digital health, the use of AI and its application; and
  • Research and innovation management, particularly in resource-limited settings.

Selection Criteria: In assessing applications, the following criteria will be used.

  • A track record and achievements in areas of expertise.
  • Experience in cross-cutting issues, including capacity building/strengthening, research ethics, research management, knowledge translation, regulatory affairs, and collaborative partnerships (North-South, South-South).
  • Expertise and experience across multiple sectors; diversity of gender, stakeholder, and geographical origin.
