Science of Eradication: Malaria 2022
The upcoming edition of the Science of Eradication: Malaria leadership development course will be hosted at Harvard University from June 19–24, 2022. The course will provide a diverse cohort of malaria experts from around the world with a multidisciplinary perspective of disease eradication.
In addition to exclusive access to readings and online course materials, participants will gain knowledge and skills to develop and direct malaria control, elimination, and eradication programs through an understanding of:
- Past disease eradication efforts;
- Malaria biology and epidemiology;
- Vector and parasite biology;
- New tools and strategies for eradication;
- Communication and advocacy;
- Financing for malaria elimination;
- Drug and insecticide resistance;
- Stratification of interventions;
- Impact of individual behaviors as well as political, social, and environmental/climate change factors;
- Surveillance techniques, including cross-border malaria challenges;
- Health systems;
- Country-led responses (e.g., high burden to high impact)
- Principles of applied modeling;
- COVID-19 and malaria; and
- Private and public sectors’ roles in elimination efforts.
