Request for Nominations: APMEN Chairs (2025–2026)

The Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN) invites nominations from high-level government officials (current or retired) from its 22 member countries to serve as Chairs for the Vivax, Vector Control, and Surveillance & Response Working Groups for 2025-2026.

Nominations are open to government officials from Ministries of Health and National Malaria Programmes. Interested individuals can self-nominate or be nominated by their government agencies. Female candidates and nominees from diverse Asia-Pacific regions are strongly encouraged to apply.

Role of the Chair:

The Chair will lead the Working Group by:

  • Responsible for stewardship of the Working Group, including oversight and planning of Working Group activities in accordance with stated aims and objectives 
  • Chair effective Working Group meetings, including by providing inputs into the development of meeting agenda and reviewing meeting minutes 
  • Foster coordination and exchange of information among all members of the Working Group 
  • Sharing research and operational experience between APMEN Country Partners to maximise synergistic activities and minimise unnecessary duplication
  • Advocating for funding for catalytic research projects to address key knowledge gaps, and facilitating their implementation, analysis and feedback to the Network
  • Represent the Working Group at APMEN and other external meetings
  • Ensure adequate, balanced representation of relevant parties in the Working Group activities
  • Participate in coordination meetings between the Working Groups, and with APLMA, and donors
  • Promote strategic linkages and collaboration with other regional networks to advance the objectives of the Working Groups and APMEN as a whole

The role is voluntary and requires approximately two days per month, with travel to meetings as necessary. An honorarium and travel-related costs will be covered. The Co-Chair and Coordinator, from the institution hosting the Working Group, will support the Chair. For the 2025–2026 term, the Co-Chairs will be: Prof. Richard J. Maude (MORU) for SRWG, Dr. Leo Braack (Malaria Consortium) for VCWG, and Dr. Caroline A. Lynch (MMV) for VxWG.
