Pre-clinical Drug Discovery Workshop

Rafiki and Stellenbosch University organize the Pre-clinical Drug Discovery Workshop that will focus on chemistry and biological principles underlying hit discovery and progress to an early lead candidate, including ADME/DMPK principles. 

Date: 22-25 October, 2025

Venue:  STIAS: Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study, Stellenbosch, South Africa

Workshop objectives:

  • Introduction to preclinical drug discovery for emerging
    scientists from southern Africa
  • Highlighting biological assays (whole cell & target –
    based) in drug discovery
  • Build collaborative, international, interdisciplinary networks
    between workshop participants

Applicant preference:

  • Early-career scientists
  • Based in southern Africa
  • Applicants will be reviewed based on a clear motivation for how the course’s focus and content will be relevant to their current research.

Numbers are limited to 30 participants for the workshop.
