Pre- ASTMH Workshop: MMS Study Design
The MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College is organizing a pre-ASTMH workshop on MMS study design.
Date: 6-8 November of 2025.
Location: Hotel TBA, Toronto, Canada.
Eligibility:
This workshop is aimed at researchers, scientists, and representatives of National Malaria Control Programs (NMCPs) and local research units who are currently conducting or in the process of designing malaria molecular surveillance studies. Extensive statistical experience is not required as this workshop focusses on teaching the basics with an emphasis on application.
Workshop format:
- Sample size calculation
- Hypothesis testing
- Power calculations
- Measuring changes in prevalence
- Cluster-based study design and intra-cluster correlation
- Designing a study with multiple endpoints
Funding details:
- On-site accommodation (TBA) will be fully funded for all workshop participants for 4 nights (Wednesday Nov 5th, Thursday Nov 6th, Friday Nov 7th, and Saturday Nov 8th prior to the ASTMH conference).
- Most meals will also be included (Thursday: breakfast/lunch/dinner, Friday: breakfast/lunch, Saturday: breakfast/lunch/dinner).
- We will not cover ASTMH conference travel/registration/hotel costs. You will need to cover your own transportation to the venue in Toronto, and arrive Wednesday November 5th.
