Malaria Genomic Epidemiology Journal Club webinar: Anopheles funestus mechanisms to upregulate genes and resist insecticides
The next Malaria Genomic Epidemiology Journal Club webinar will discuss the mechanisms that Anopheles funestus mosquitoes use to upregulate genes and resist insecticides.
Date: 30th of September
Time:1.30pm UK time.
Location: online.
In order to escape the effects of deadly insecticides, many mosquitoes evolve ways to detoxify their cells and eliminate the insecticide. In this hour-long session, Dr Mersimine Kouamo will present findings from a new paper that show exactly how Anopheles funestus mosquitoes upregulate genes in order to resist both DDT and pyrethroids.
The paper was published in BMC Genomics in May 2025: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40335906/
