L’Oréal- UNESCO Call for Applications: Women in Science Award
L’Oréal- UNESCO calls for applications for its Women in Science Award. The program grants five prizes to support research projects carried out during the year 2026 and/or 2027 by Spanish female researchers (or who have resided in Spain for at least the last five years).
The projects must focus on an area of Life and Environmental Sciences (such as biology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, physiology, neuroscience, biotechnology, ecology and ethology, or other areas covered by this designation…).
Candidate requirements
- Possess Spanish nationality or accredited permanent residency in Spain (having been a resident in Spain for the last five years).
- Have a research contract with the Research Center responsible for developing the Project during the year 2026.
- Have been born in 1986 or later. In the case of a researcher with one or more children, this age limit will be extended by one year for each child.
- Hold a PhD in a field related to the Project, and at least 4 years must have passed since the defence of the doctoral thesis.
- Have completed at least one predoctoral or postdoctoral research stay of a minimum duration of 2 years at a research center abroad, or at a prestigious Spanish research center other than the one where the doctoral thesis was completed.
- Be an early-stage independent researcher or lead an independent research group.
Funding:
- Five prizes of €15,000 each, that must be used to finance the execution of the project that the Researcher will develop at the Research Center throughout the year 2026 and/or 2027.
- The Research Center commits to limiting its overhead or indirect costs related to the management of the research project to a maximum of 8% of the total award amount.
