”la Caixa” Foundation Call for Applications: Social Research Call 2024

The Social Observatory of the ”la Caixa” Foundation launches the Social Research Call 2024. This is a competitive call to finance research projects that stand out for their excellence, innovative nature and social orientation. The proposals must generate new knowledge that helps understand the most relevant social challenges of today using quantitative methodologies.

The presentation of proposals will take place in two phases.

Objectives:

  • The call seeks to support social research projects that stand out for their excellence and that are based on quantitative data that provide, through an original and innovative approach, robust and solid information to deeply understand today’s social challenges.
  • Projects must refer to Spain and/or Portugal.

Eligibility:

  • The call is aimed at active researchers who can prove an independent scientific career and corroborate their recent scientific production. For this reason, candidates must meet the following requirements:
    • Accredit an article published in journals of the first quartile (Q1) according to the rankings of Scimago Journal Rank (SJR) of Scopus or the Journal Citations Report (JCR ) of Web of Science , in the last 5 years before the closing of the call. For the latter, only the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) indices will be considered.
    • Have a doctorate awarded more than 2 years before the call deadline specified in the rules (that is, before January 23, 2022).
  • The call is open to researchers of all nationalities who carry out their research in a non-profit institution: universities and public and private research centers based in Spain or Portugal.

Funding details:

  • It is planned to finance projects of up to €115,000
  • A maximum duration of 24 months .

  • Application deadline : January 23, 2024.

Phase 2 – Pre-selected proposals ( full proposals )

  • Opening of the second phase:  March 2024
  • Application deadline: April 24, 2024.
