GLIDE Disease Elimination & Eradication Course
The Global Institute for Disease Elimination (GLIDE) invites you to apply for the 2026 Disease Elimination & Eradication Course (DEEC) in partnership with Khalifa University of Science and Techonolgy.
This DEEC cycle welcomes participants from the EMRO/MENA region and aims to strengthen understanding of the core principles and practical strategies for eliminating preventable infectious diseases, with particular attention to GLIDE’s focus areas — NTDs, polio, and malaria — alongside other diseases of regional significance.
Dates:
- Online modules asynchronous : 9 February- 13 March, 2026
- In-person: 24th March- 1st April, 2026 in Abu Dhabi
Location: Khalifa University of Science and Techonolgy, Abu Dhabi.
The DEEC is a hybrid course comprising a one-month online component and a seven day in-person component. The online portion is self-paced with a weekly moderated session– it introduces participants to key concepts that will be further discussed in person. The in-person segment focuses on the application of these concepts through active learning, group participation, and strategy co-creation.
Eligibility:
- Minimum 2-5 members per team
- Mid-career public health professionals with comparable experience.
- Ideal composition: a mix of Ministry of Health staff, NGO or UN professionals, and academics working toward disease elimination.
- Eligible countries: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, Yemen.
Scholarship support:
- The course fees, including housing and travel costs, can be covered for a selected number of professional applicants based on merit and need.
- Other organizations are encouraged to provide partial or full financial support to public health professionals.
