Genomics for Health call for Applications: GHA-SciEx fellowships

Genomics for Health is partnering with the African STARS Fellowship, a leading national fellowship initiative in Africa, for the next call for applications for the GHA-SciEx program. This collaboration facilitates short-term research visits of up to three months within African and European research groups.

Through short-term research visits of up to 90 days, fellows can deepen their expertise in areas such as genomics, infectious diseases, rare diseases, bioinformatics, and structural biology, while working alongside expert research groups and expanding their global networks.

Selection and admission criteria:

  • Master’s or PhD degree holders in the sciences—particularly in genomics, biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, or related fields—are eligible to apply. Ideal candidates are those looking to enrich their research with new data, acquire advanced technological skills, and who are highly motivated to undertake research stays abroad.
  • Only highly motivated candidates with a well-defined, feasible research objective and support of a host group and institution before applying for this scheme. Applications lacking a clear commitment from a host institution and group leader/principal investigator to host the applicant, shall not be considered.
  • Selection is based on the applicant’s motivation, the clarity and relevance of the proposed research project, and the quality of the submitted documentation. Final approval is granted by the CoRE-GHA Education Committee.
