ASTMH Call for Applications: Prof. Dominic Kwiatkowski Fellowship for Malaria Genomics

ASTMH is calling for applications for the Prof. Dominic Kwiatkowski Fellowship for Malaria Genomics. This initiative commemorates Professor Kwiatkowski’s legacy and aims to foster the next generation of researchers dedicated to combating malaria in endemic regions. 

This fellowship in, partnership with the Gates Foundation, was established in memory of Prof. Dominic Kwiatkowski. The Kwiatkowski Fellowship is awarded annually to one early- to mid-career researcher from and working in a low- or middle-income country (LMIC) conducting research in malaria genomics.

Eligible criteria: 

  • Available to citizens of LMIC’s currently working and/or living in an endemic country.
  • Early*- to mid-career scientists pursuing research that aims to blend laboratory and field work on malaria genomics.
  • A Master’s degree or higher is desired with a focus malaria genomics.

Funding: 

  • The award is for a total of $20,000 US and designed to cover project-related expenses during the one-year timeframe to complete a research project in malaria genomics.
  • The funds can be used for all project-related costs but cannot be used for covering the applicant’s salary or institutional overhead.
