ASP Call for Applications: Concepts in Parasitology Course (onsite)
The Australian society for parasitology (ASP) invites you to apply for a two week onsite course titled Concepts in Parasitology on November 26 – December 7, 2022 in Australia.
This course offers a unique opportunity to postgraduates and early career researchers to work with prominent Australian parasitologists and learn state-of-the-art research techniques. It will take place at the University of Queensland (UQ’s) Moreton Bay Research Station, Queensland Australia.

- Immuno-diagnostics of Parasitic Infections
- Bioinformatics of parasite genomes

- Veterinary and Wildlife Parasitology

The course will explore the diversity of parasitic life-styles, answering questions such as:
- What does it take to be a parasite?
- What are the costs and benefits of parasitism?
- What host defences have developed?
- What mechanisms have evolved to find vectors and hosts efficiently?
- What is the advantage of having multiple hosts?
- What specific characteristics must an anti-parasitic drug have?
- What are the chances of developing vaccines against parasitic diseases?
- What will the future of parasitology look like?
Course fee:
- AUD $2,500 plus GST for non-ASP members.
- AUD $1,500 plus GST for ASP members. Applicants must be ASP members at the time of application deadline to qualify for the discount.
- The course fee includes tuition, accommodation and meals.
