APMEN TechTalks Webinar “G6PD Testing for Radical Cure of Vivax Malaria: Current Implementation and Gaps”
APMEN is pleased to invite you to the upcoming the APMEN TechTalks webinar, “G6PD Testing for Radical Cure of Vivax Malaria: Current Implementation and Gaps,” hosted by the APMEN Vivax Working Group.
Date: 16th of December, 2025.
Time: 12:30PM SGT.
Location: Online.
As countries in the Asia-Pacific move closer to malaria elimination, ensuring that every patient receives optimized and complete treatment has become a critical priority. Since primaquine and tafenoquine can cause hemolysis in individuals with G6PD deficiency, testing is essential before administering a radical cure for P. vivax malaria. In recent years, advances in point-of-care diagnostics have made G6PD testing more accessible and operationally feasible; however, implementation remains uneven, particularly in resource-limited and remote settings. This TechTalk will explore G6PD test deployment and existing gaps, field experiences, and emerging solutions to improve patient access. Panellists will discuss the current situation, share lessons from ongoing studies and integration efforts across the region, and highlight ways to enable the routine use of G6PD testing more effectively.
