Tests for glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase activity: Target product profiles
Published: 14/11/2022
This document describes the characteristics of new types of diagnostics to measure glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) activity. These diagnostics are expected to facilitate safe and effective treatment with 8-aminoquinolines to prevent Plasmodium vivax relapse and reduce onward malaria transmission. They may also have other applications, such as screening neonates for G6PD deficiency, investigating acute haemolytic anaemia and genetic counselling. The target audience consists of all those working to evaluate assays or to develop new assays for G6PD testing.
