Uncovering epigenetics of sexual reproduction holds the key to eradicating malaria parasites
Objectives
This study aims to elucidate the expression control system of the AP2-G gene, a master transcription factor that controls sexual reproduction in malaria parasites. Specifically, using an in vivo heterochromatin induction system originally developed by the applicants, the aim is to elucidate the mechanism by which the heterochromatin structure that represses gene expression is released and transcription is initiated, using the DNA sequence of the AP2-G gene locus as a clue.
