Transmission modelling to determine the benefit of using Tafenoquine instead of Primaquine in Brazil

Objectives

  1. To analyze Brazilian epidemiological case reporting data of malaria across space and time.
  2. To calibrate a previously developed mathematical model of Plasmodium vivax to the Brazilian epidemiological context using case reporting data .
  3. To update the model with new testing and treatment pathways that includes G6PD testing and tafenoquine treatment.
  4. To estimate the public health benefit of introducing tafenoquine and G6PD testing into current case management compared to radical cure with chloroquine and primaquine radical cure across Brazilian municipalities and for different deployment strategies.
  5. To perform sensitivity analyses for model parameters with higher estimate uncertainty.
