MOSASWA Cross Border Initiative (Phase 5)

Objectives

The goal of this program is to work collaboratively across all sectors on the pathway to accelerate regional elimination, towards achieving zero indigenous cases of malaria in Eswatini, South Africa, and districts in southern Mozambique, by 2030. This initiative will continue to strengthen the MOSASWA regional initiative to coordinate, harmonize policies, strengthen sub- national capacity and share expertise and strategic information among the three countries to accelerate to the goal of malaria elimination.

Specific Objectives:

  1. To continue strengthening the MOSASWA malaria cross-border initiave by coordinating efforts, harmonizing policies, enhancing sub-national capacity, and sharing expertise and strategic information among the three countries to accelerate the goal of malaria elimination.
  2. To ensure widespread coverage of malaria elimination interventions across the epidemiologically connected MOSASWA region, prioritizing high-risk localities and tareting mobile and migrant populations (MMPs).
  3. To enhance monitoring and evaluation, as well as operational research, to identify gaps, inform policies and needs in elimination efforts, and generate evidence for data-driven decision-making.
  4. To mobilize resources and advocate for increased and sustainable financing to achieve and maintain malaria elimination.
