Molecular detection of Plasmodium in autochthone malaria areas located in the Atlantic Forest biome of the state of São Paulo
Objectives
The main goal of this study is to detect asymptomatic Plasmodium infections in residents of malaria focus areas in seven municipalities in the State of São Paulo.
The three specific objectives are:
- Perform screening, using qPCR for Plasmodium, in blood samples from residents in malaria focus areas in seven municipalities in the State of São Paulo;
- Perform nested PCR on samples positive by qPCR for the genus Plasmodium, to identify the species of the parasite; and
- Determine the prevalence of asymptomatic infections in each municipality analyzed.
