This project aims at the identification of metabolomic signatures associated with the carriage of hypnozoites in Plasmodium vivax.
In patients followed up at a referral institution, with true relapse, in a manner well characterized by epidemiological information and molecular markers, it is intended to search for the presence of biomarkers in peripheral blood, as well as in non-invasive samples, such as urine, saliva and imprint. skin, through a metabolomic approach. The identification of such markers will allow field surveys to be carried out, in a scenario of elimination of the disease, thus avoiding the mass administration of drugs, which may not be well accepted by the population.
