Objectives
*Original title in Portuguese: Infecção experimental de espécies de anofelinos da Amazônia Brasileira com plasmódios humanos e de roedores
This project aims to assess the experimental susceptibility of anophelines from the Brazilian Amazon to human and rodent plasmodia for the development of an experimental model of malaria in vitro and in vivo.
Experimental infections will be performed in vitro from infected blood of patients with Plasmodium falciparum and/or P. vivax and culture of P. falciparum. While in vivo infections will be from the infection of mice infected with P. berghei. The vectors used will be laboratory-reared mosquitoes of the species of Anopheles darlingi, An. deaneorum and An. aquasalis.
