
Shehu Shagari Awandu
Shehu Shagari Awandu is a Senior Lecturer at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST). His research interests center on malaria transmission biology with a focus on the intersections of host, vector and parasite interactions. His current project includes i) studies on the distribution, ecology, and disease transmission capabilities of both Anopheles and Aedes mosquitoes under changing environmental conditions; ii) Develoment of endosymbiotic bacterium Wolbachia based biological control methods for Anopheles mosquitoes to control malaria.
Shehu is part of the MESA correspondents program and is committed to fostering mentorship, innovation and empowering researchers to develop tailored solutions for emerging local challenges.
