Patricia Doumbe Belisse
Patricia Doumbe Belisse is a medical entomologist with a proven track record of conducting research in Cameroon, Ethiopia, and the United Kingdom. Building on her expertise in implementation research and vector biology, she aims to integrate laboratory, field, and policy-oriented approaches to ensure that her work translates into measurable improvements in community health, while addressing broader global health priorities. She is also deeply committed to advancing equity in science, with a particular focus on initiatives that promote the inclusion of women in research, support healthy work–life balance, and inspire young women to pursue careers in STEM.
Patricia joined the MESA Correspondence Program in 2021 as a PhD researcher at the Organization for the coordination of the fight against endemic diseases in Central Africa (OCEAC), where she developed her scientific communication skills. Through this program, she expanded her professional network and immersed herself in scientific reporting. She has covered numerous conferences, both online and in person, and contributed to the MESA campaign promoting women in science during International Women’s Day in 2023. She later became a Senior Editor during her postdoctoral research at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), supporting early-career researchers in developing their reporting skills.
The MESA Correspondence Program is an experience I truly cherish, as it has shaped the researcher I am today, strengthening my reviewing skills and scientific precision. I am also fortunate to be part of this vibrant community of researchers and experts.
