Ashu Fred Ayukarah
Ashu Fred is a research assistant and Ph.D. candidate in biochemistry/medical entomology at the University of Yaoundé I/Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID), Cameroon. His research focuses on malaria vector surveillance, with particular emphasis on Anopheles gambiae, including species identification, blood meal analysis, and the investigation of insecticide resistance mechanisms to novel classes of insecticide using molecular and genomic tools. His work aims to contribute to improved vector control strategies and ultimately support efforts toward malaria elimination in endemic settings.
Fred has also contributed to research activities that strengthen entomological surveillance and advance the understanding of vector dynamics in Cameroon, supporting evidence-based decision-making for malaria control.
Being a MESA correspondent is a valuable opportunity for me to enhance my scientific communication skills, increase my visibility within the global malaria research community, and expand my professional network. I am particularly motivated to contribute to knowledge translation efforts and to learn from leading experts working toward innovative solutions in the fight against malaria. Supporting the MESA Team in this mission is both a privilege and a rewarding experience.
