6th International Malaria Workshop: Advancing Knowledge and Response to Zoonotic Malaria – Focus on Plasmodium knowlesi

The Department of Parasitology at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, is conducting the “6th International Malaria Workshop: Advancing Knowledge and Response to Zoonotic Malaria: Focus on Plasmodium knowlesi”, targeting 20 participants from Malaysia and other countries.

Date:  17 – 21 August, 2025

Location: Department of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur

Sessions (lectures and hands-on training):

  • Mosquito mating, dissection and identification,
  • Culturing Plasmodium parasites (P.k./P.f.),
  • Microscopic & molecular diagnosis of malaria,
  • Detection of antimalarial drug resistance molecular markers,
  • Using GIS for mapping malaria incidence & risk factors, &
  • Phylogenetic analysis

Fee:

  • Local: RM 1000
  • International: USD 450
  • 10% of for registration by 15 June 2026
  • Single-Day Registration is allowed: RM300 (USD100) per day (Refer to full brochure)
  • The Department of Parasitology of the Universiti Malaya is at the forefront of malaria research and strives to share knowledge with other institutes and is always sensitive to global needs. Thus, participants attending this workshop will gain valuable information and techniques that they can bring back and implement in their respective institutes and universities.
