LSHTM Call for Applications: AI in Health: Introduction to Key Concepts and Applications short course
LSHTM is calling for applications for the short course: AI in Health: Introduction to Key Concepts and Applications.
Date: 16 & 17 July 2026
Location: London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London.
The course has been designed for professionals with a health background (doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, epidemiologists, medical statisticians, or any healthcare researchers) with a strong interest in AI in healthcare. No prior knowledge of AI/ML is expected. Applicants should have a good command of English.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- Appreciate the range of applications and potential of AI in health
- Understand the key concepts underlying AI in health solutions, including machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, and large language models and gain hands-on experience in coding some example use-cases (NB this will not entail learning to independently code all types of AI models which is beyond the scope of this introductory course).
- Understand how to evaluate AI technologies for health.
- Appreciate key implementation, regulatory, and ethical issues surrounding the use of AI in health.
- Critically appraise AI-related health research.

Please note:
- Students will be required to bring their own laptops.
- If you have been offered a place on the course you will not be able to register without bringing a formal ID (Passport) and without having obtained the correct visa if required.
- It is essential that you read the current visa requirements for short course students.
- LSHTM may cancel courses two weeks before the first day of the course if numbers prove insufficient. In those circumstances, course fees will be refunded.
- LSHTM cannot accept responsibility for accommodation, travel and other losses incurred as a result of the course being cancelled.
