H3D Call for Mentors- 6th Global Health Mentorship Programme

H3D invites is calling for applications for Mentors for the 6th Global Health Mentorship Programme.

Date: July 2026 – August 2027.

The Global Health Mentorship Programme is a fixed-duration structured mentorship programme aimed at accelerating drug discovery research capacity and scientific leadership in Africa. Selected early- to mid-career drug discovery researchers will be matched with mentors from a distinguished global network of drug discovery scientists. The mentee-mentor pairs will be provided with tools, resources and overall oversight, with guidance towards intervention themes tailored to the needs of the African R&D ecosystem and the specific needs of the mentee. Mentorship sessions take place online throughout the year, with a fully-sponsored in-person workshop to take place in Cape Town, South Africa.

Mentor profile: 

Experienced drug discovery and development professionals with expertise in one or more areas of drug discovery and development, gained through applied work in industry, consulting, or research institutions. Relevant areas include:

  • Infectious disease biology
  • Drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK)
  • Computer-aided drug design
  • Medicinal chemistry
  • Other (Drug discovery project management, scientific leadership, Artificial intelligence / machine learning, preclinical, toxicology etc.)

Applications from both new and returning mentors are welcomed.

Please note: this cohort will be limited to 25 mentor–mentee pairs.

Honorarium:

Mentors will be offered a nominal honorarium, payable either to their personal bank account or to a charity of their choice.
