Organelle genome editing reveals drug resistance mechanisms in malaria parasites

Objectives

The main aim of this project is to develop and utilize Ornella genome editing technology, a tool for creating drug-resistant protozoan mutants caused by organelle gene mutations and analyzing the mutants in order to clarify the relationship between organelle genome mutations and drug resistance, which has never been explored before. The ultimate goal is to use the knowledge gained to develop new drugs.
