10th Southern Africa Malaria Research Conference 2025
The 10th Southern Africa Malaria Research Conference 2025 ‘Shaping the agenda to meet the malaria elimination end goal’ organized by the South African Medical Research Council Malaria Research Group (MRG) seeks to improve the health and quality of life of people living in malaria endemic areas by facilitating high quality scientific research that informs the development of policy, health services, health promotion and capacity development. In consultation with the SA National Department of Health the MRG developed a prioritised research agenda to foster networking and collaboration among different role players to synergise efforts on malaria research towards a common goal.
Date: July 29 – 31, 2025
Place: Pretoria, South Africa
This initiative of the MRG creates a platform for experienced and emerging scientists to showcase their work as well as the opportunity to network with the wider malaria community in the region.
With the goal of malaria elimination now being moved to 2030 it has become apparent that many southern African countries are experiencing challenges in attaining their goal. Cross border transmission, lack of resources and insecticide resistance are only a few of the difficulties being experienced by malaria control programmes.Â
