ESPID Call for Applications: Clinical Training Fellowship 2025

The European Society for Paedriatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID) calls for applications for its Clinical Training Fellowship 2025 to fund visits by ESPID members to other centres to  allow applicants to obtain experience or training in techniques or areas not otherwise available to them.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant:
    • Must be an ESPID member in “good standing” with current membership fees paid up in full at the time of application.
    • Must be a trainee paediatrician or in medical, allied health professional, or scientific training in a clinical or academic centre involved in paediatrics or child health.
    • Those in career posts may also be funded if the experience is of clear strategic importance and not available locally.
  • Host Centre:
    • Must provide written confirmation in advance that they can provide the requested training/experience, including dates and timetabled activities.
    • Must be willing to confirm to ESPID in writing, after completion of the fellowship visit, that the trainee attended and was trained as planned.

ESPID will only support one award relating to any one project. Applicants should select and apply to only one ESPID award if a project could be covered by multiple awards. Applicants must indicate if they have other awards/grants pending or recently funded. The awards are not intended to support research.

Funding details:

  •  The maximum funded period is 24 weeks.
  • The awards cover travel costs, accommodation, and subsistence.
    • Travel costs (round trip) have a fixed maximum budget based on region: Applicant’s own country Eur 200, Europe Eur 600, USA/Americas Eur 1,000. Travel costs are reimbursed upon receipt of original receipts/tickets and the final report. Travel during the fellowship must be paid from subsistence provision.
    • Accommodation is covered up to a maximum of Eur300 per week with receipts.
    • Subsistence is covered up to a maximum of Eur120 per week (no receipts required).
    • The maximum amount for subsistence awarded is €420 per week, pro rata, which includes food, accommodation, and travel to/from the training institution.

Call Expected Timeline:

  • ESPID aims to respond to all applications within one month.
  • However, we suggest you submit your application at least 2-3 months before the fellowship start date.
