ASTMH Call for Applications: ACMCIPs Take-Off Award in Parasitology Research

The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH)  calls for applications for the American Committee of the Molecular Cellular and Immunoparasitology (ACMCIP) Take-off Award in Parasitology Research, which recognizes an early-career stage scientist who has made significant contributions in the field of cellular, molecular, and immunoparasitology. The American Committee of Molecular, Cellular and Immunoparasitology (ACMCIP) is organized under the auspices of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH).

Eligibility:

  • ASTMH members and non-members may submit nominations; the nominee does not need to be an ASTMH member. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
  • The award is open to any early-career stage investigators (lecturer, instructor, research scientist, assistant professor) who are within five years of starting their independent program.
  • The award recognizes individuals who have made important contributions in basic parasitology. These contributions must have been made after the receipt of their terminal degree.
  • Nominees cannot be more than five years removed from their first faculty appointment at the time of the ASTMH meeting.
  • The findings must have been published no more than five years before the date of the nomination.
  • This award specifically recognizes accomplishments in the applicant’s independent laboratory and not for publications during their postdoctoral training

Funding and Announcement:

  • This award carries a stipend of $2,000 US to enable the awardee plus a member of their lab to attend the 2025 Annual Meeting.
  • The awardee can use the funds for any purpose, including travel and registration costs for the ASTMH Annual Meeting for themselves and a member of their lab.
  • The recipient will be recognized during the annual ACMCIP Trager, Trainee, and Take-off Symposium. The awardee will also provide a presentation during the Symposium.
