USAID-Burma Call for Applications: Strengthening Malaria Control for High-Risk Communities (SMCHC)

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Burma is calling for applications for the Strengthening Malaria Control for High-Risk Communities (SMCHC) grant.

The purpose of the Activity is to reduce malaria morbidity through interventions that strengthen the health care delivery system, expand malaria control and prevention activities, and increase the use of services in high transmission areas.

Objectives:

  1. To expand access to high-quality malaria preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services
  2. To strengthen the capacity of local health systems and health workers to deliver malaria services to high risk and under-served populations
  3. To increase the demand for and uptake of malaria preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services

This Activity will improve access to and quality of malaria case management and vector control interventions, complemented by targeted social behavior change interventions. The Activity specifically aims to develop more effective methods to reach high-risk populations, including remote and hard-to-reach populations, forest-goers, mobile and migrant populations within the focus areas. The Activity will strengthen and improve the capacity of community-based organizations to lead, plan, manage, and implement malaria prevention and control interventions, using an approach that promotes local ownership, sustainability, and builds local-level health systems.
