ISID Call for Applications: Research & Capacity Building Grants
The International Society for Infectious Disease’s (ISID) calls for applications for the Research & Capacity Building Grants.
With funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), this ISID research grant opportunity seeks to provide funding for early career researchers from LMICs living and working in the field of public health. Each grant recipient will receive monetary support for the period of the grant and will be paired with a designated mentor from within ISID’s vast network of infectious disease professionals from around the world. At the end of the grant period, recipients will receive funding to attend an ISID event to present their findings.
Qualifying Capacity Grant Areas of Interest include:
- Investigation of the epidemiology, pathophysiology and diagnosis of infectious diseases
- Epidemiology and control of hospital acquired infections (HAI)
- Modelling of cost effective interventions for infectious diseases
- Implementation of infection control measures in LMICs
- Antimicrobial resistance (AMR)
- Other relevant Infectious Diseases Public health capacity building topic areas
Eligibility Criteria:
- A public health researcher or scientist within eight years of completion of a PhD or equivalent professional training (MD) or public health degree
- Postgraduate professionals in their field less than five years (with or without a doctoral degree)
- Applicant is below the age of 35 years old as of October 1, 2023
- Be from and a resident living and working in an LMIC (funding restrictions apply to the countries in the chart below)
- Be able to conduct the research project with the infectious disease focus at the applicant’s institution within a year from receiving the research grant. All grants must be completed in one year of award
- Commit to grant recipient reporting requirements and administrative documentation necessary for grant awarding process
