EMBO Call for Applications: Global Lecture Courses

European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) is calling for applications for funding to organise Global Lecture Courses. EMBO is looking to fund cutting edge courses that provide high quality training to scientists.

EMBO Global Lecture Courses enable scientific exchange beyond European borders. They teach participants, primarily PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, about a particular topic in the life sciences. The courses should provide participants with background and underlying concepts, thereby making the topic accessible to scientists with diverse scientific backgrounds.

Eligibility:

  • EMBO Global Lecture Courses must take place in EMBC Associate Member States, in countries and territories with which EMBO has signed a co-operation agreement, or in countries eligible for support by EMBO and The Company of Biologists.  
  • Please note that for lecture courses taking place in India, organizers should apply for an India | EMBO Lecture Course.
  • The lecture course must cover a topic from the life sciences, and organizers must provide a convincing justification that the course addresses a need in the local scientific community. 
  • Organisers can be of any nationality and be based in any country of the world.

Funding details:

  • EMBO contributes up to 45,000 euros (35,000 euros of core funding plus 9,000 euros exclusively for travel grants and registration fee waivers, and 1,000 euros for childcare grants) per workshop.
  • EMBO supports the organisers by: Creating a dedicated practical course webpage, including registration and abstract submission forms; Providing a poster and helping to advertise the meeting.
  • EMBO offers travel grants for each event.
