Mahidol University Calls for Applications: Sylvia Meek Scholarship for Medical Entomology

Mahidol University is calling for applications for the Sylvia Meek Scholarship for Medical Entomology.

Globally, there is a shortage of medical entomologists. A gap in training opportunities has led to a shortfall of technical specialists in the field. Ensuring that the next generation are supported in their careers is essential to address the threats undermining the progress made towards malaria elimination. To help bridge this gap, Malaria Consortium set up a scholarship programme to fund scholars from Africa and Asia to pursue their studies in Medical Entomology at partner institutions.  

Field of study:

Master of Science in Tropical Medicine at the Mahidol University, Thailand. The successful applicant would be expected to do a project on the field evaluation of the effectiveness of inexpensive community-made mosquito traps for dengue vector surveillance.

Eligibility:

  • Must be a Thai citizen.
  • Be a full-time student from the Master Degree of Faculty of Tropical Medicine Mahidol University.
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 on the bachelor’s degree transcript.
  • Have passed the English Language Score for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Mahidol University.

Funding details:

  • 100% Tuition Fee Wavier,
  • Monthly Allowance (20,000 THB /Monthly) for a maximum of 2-year funding support,
  • 1 Scholarship will be offered.
