JHSPH Conference: 26th Vector Encounter

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) will hold the 26th Vector Encounter Conference in June 2023. This is a two-day gathering to discuss the biology of arthropod disease vectors, hosted by the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. During this engaging get-together, investigators present their lab’s latest vector research in Chalk Talk and Short Talk format emphasizing ideas and latest discoveries. 

Date: June 15 – 16, 2023

Place: In-person in Maryland, USA

Chalk Talk presentations in the main session are limited to one investigator per lab, by the PI or a team member. Non-PIs can also present research in Short Talk format in a breakout session; more than one lab member can present.

Chalk Talks

  • Limited to 15 minutes per lab
  • Can be presented by the PI, or a designated team member
  • Presentation should provide an overview of the current lab projects
  • Presentations need to be made using the chalk board only

Short Talks

  • Limited to 15 minutes total, including questions
  • Multiple individuals from the same lab can present individual Short Talks
  • Format is restricted to 5 PowerPoint Slides total, emphasizing data
  • Presentations can be made using any of the following: a whiteboard (markers provided), slides or all

No abstract or talk title is required for either Chalk Talks and Short Talks.
The only requirement is the statement (maximum 1 sentence) that you input when registering.

Registration fee: $60 and includes two light breakfasts, two lunches and four snacks over the two-day event.
