ACT Scale-Up Programme
Objectives
Through this project, UNITAID and its implementers aim to help increase access to ACTs by providing a sustainable financing model.
The ACT scale-up project was initiated in 2007 to provide quality ACTs to eight countries. UNITAID has promoted greater competition in the ACT market by sending a signal of its long-term commitment and sustainable funding.
This project has closed. In 2011, stock shortages of ACTs in Madagascar and Zambia were reported by UNICEF and the Global Fund. UNITAID responded by agreeing to the use of the remaining project funds for this project (US$ 1,752,998) to deliver ACT treatments to three participating grants in Madagascar and Zambia.
