Malaria Elimination in the Plateau Region of the Togolese Republic

Objectives

The overall objective of this project is to eliminate malaria in Est-Mono district, Togo and  determine whether MDA regimens of ACT (Artemisinin–piperaquine) can quickly block malaria transmission in an inland country.

Rationale and Abstract

Non-randomized epidemiological research consisting of an intervention arm with Mass Drug Administration with Artemisinin-Piperaquine and a control arm with current antimalarial measures.

Children less than 6 months will be excluded, as well as patients with liver or kidney diseases.

The outcomes assessed are diagnosed malaria cases per month by health care, infection rate (by RDT and microscopy) and MDA coverage.
